Specific incidents
Accidents, assaults, medical trauma, humiliating events, losses, or experiences that remain vivid and reactive.
EMDR for adults whose insight has not fully changed the body-level or emotional response connected to a specific experience.

Focused EMDR
The work focuses on experiences that remain emotionally, physically, or relationally active—specific memories, adverse childhood experiences, accidents, medical events, betrayal, assault, or sustained relational injury.
EMDR may help reduce the intensity and present-tense quality of those experiences. Preparation, pacing, and fit matter. The goal is not to force disclosure or rush through a protocol.
Possible targets
Accidents, assaults, medical trauma, humiliating events, losses, or experiences that remain vivid and reactive.
Betrayal, chronic criticism, abandonment, coercion, or repeated experiences that shaped how safety and trust are felt.
Old survival roles and body-level responses that continue long after the original environment has changed.
Strong reactions that may connect with earlier experiences. We would explore that possibility rather than assume it explains what you are feeling.
Treatment structure
The first phase clarifies history, readiness, resources, and target selection. EMDR reprocessing begins only when there is enough capacity to remain oriented and engaged.
Some clients need a short course focused on one event. Complex or developmental trauma usually requires a slower, broader process. No timeline is promised before assessment.
Clarify the target and whether outpatient EMDR is appropriate.
Build enough regulation and orientation for safe processing.
Reduce present-tense intensity and connect the change to daily life.
Boundary
You do not need to arrive knowing which experience to work on. Assessment and preparation help us decide whether EMDR is appropriate and where to begin. Severe dissociation, active substance-related crisis, crisis stabilization, and acute psychiatric needs require care beyond this practice’s scope.
