Brian Bachman, MA, LPC

Depth, directness, and results.

Brian works with high-functioning, motivated adults on EMDR targets, compulsive sexual behavior, recurring patterns, and faith-integrated goals that need focused depth and a specific direction.

Background

Clinical training. Whole-person formulation. Practical change.

Brian is a Missouri Licensed Professional Counselor with more than ten years of clinical experience. He earned graduate degrees in counseling and theological studies from Covenant Theological Seminary and is EMDR trained.

He is also the author of Turn Off Porn, a practical examination of the emotional, neurological, relational, and spiritual factors that can sustain pornography use.

His approach is integrative rather than modality-driven. The work may draw from EMDR, behavioral analysis, attachment and family-of-origin understanding, psychoeducation, and solution-focused planning—with the aim of meaningful movement in months rather than an undefined therapy relationship lasting for years.

01

Specificity

The work begins with a defined target and a shared understanding of what progress would look like.

02

Directness

Brian will name patterns, contradictions, avoidance, and blind spots rather than merely reflect your words back to you.

03

Whole-person context

Behavior, memory, body, relationships, beliefs, values, and ordinary rhythms are treated as connected systems.

04

Compassion

Change is more durable when honesty and dignity stay in the same room. The work can be direct without becoming shaming or reductive.

Faith integration

Christian-integrated when you want it. Never forced.

Brian is a Christian with graduate theological training and can work explicitly with Scripture, prayer, spiritual conflict, shame, identity, spiritual formation, church hurt, wrestling with or anger at God, and productive deconstruction when those are part of the client’s goals.

Clients are not required to be Christian. Faith is never used to bypass trauma, force reconciliation, defend unhealthy authority, or substitute a spiritual answer for careful counseling work.

“The point is not to make every problem spiritual. It is to avoid pretending that a client’s deepest commitments have nothing to do with how change happens.”
Brian Bachman
