Counseling for Men in St. Louis
You do not have to choose between being heard and doing something with what you hear.
For men who want honest conversation, collaborative back-and-forth, or a more direct and structured counseling style around a defined concern.

A flexible counseling style
Counseling does not have to be passive.
Some people need room to slow down and say what has not been said. Others think best through dialogue. Others want the counselor to be more direct, practical, and structured. None of those preferences is inherently better.
The useful question is what helps you engage honestly enough to understand the pattern and make a change. The style can adjust while the work remains focused on a clear goal.
Common reasons men begin
A specific concern—not a stereotype about men.
New Pathways does not assume men need one particular kind of counseling. These are simply common entry points in a focused private-pay practice.
For overload, irritability, depleted attention, sleep problems, or sustained professional pressure.
Relationships & patternsThe same conflict or avoidance keeps repeatingFor conflict avoidance, emotional reactivity, family-of-origin dynamics, difficult transitions, or self-defeating responses.
Private behaviorPornography or compulsive sexual behaviorDirect, non-shaming work around repeated behavior, secrecy, relapse, emotional function, and relational impact.
Faith mattersChristian counseling without reducing everything to a spiritual answerFor men who want clinical counseling that can understand and integrate Christian faith when relevant.
How the work can feel
Space to talk. Real dialogue. Direct feedback when useful.
You do not have to perform vulnerability, talk in therapy language, or arrive with a perfectly articulated problem. You do need enough willingness to examine your own patterns, choices, and agency.
Sessions can include careful listening, collaborative dialogue, pattern mapping, EMDR when appropriate, practical experiments, relationship analysis, psychoeducation, and direct feedback. The method follows the problem.
Useful when you need room to organize what is happening before deciding what to do with it.
Think together, test assumptions, and make sense of patterns in real time.
Use clear feedback, specific targets, and concrete changes when that style fits you better.
Practice fit
Focused outpatient work around a defined concern.
Standard sessions are $275 for 50 minutes. New Pathways does not accept or bill insurance. The practice is designed for focused outpatient work and is not structured for acute crisis, medication management, or broad ongoing symptom treatment without a defined goal.
